General Information

History: For centuries, Tibetans have been weaving and using carpets as bedding, saddle blankets and meditation mats. Since the occupation of Tibet by China, the Tibetan refugees in Nepal started making living by weaving carpets and selling to the tourists. This carpet weaving cottage industry became one of the biggest foreign exchange earner and employing hundred of thousand of Nepali.
